9 Months Old...and...THE HAIR

Alayna is 9 months old today!

Check out that smile, and of course...THAT HAIR. It is a great conversation piece and we get a lot of comments. Today I got asked if it was the wind or static or what. I do blowdry it after baths, but the rest is just her natural awesomeness!

Here is a reminder of what Bailey looked like at about the same age. Her hair had more red in it and lacked the extra-tall-leftover-newborn-hair pieces on the top but was just as wild and cute! Besides that, I have a hard time finding too many similarities in their looks so far. Bailey got KR's nose and haircolor, and my eyes and lips. Alayna got her daddy's eyes and mouth, and my nose, double chin (sorry) and funky ears. The rest is just a genetic morphing mystery.

And since Alayna was wearing this shirt today, I thought I'd better take this picture...

so I could compare it to this one. :)

And just for fun...

Halloween Weekend

Halloween weekend started with our ward's Trunk or Treat. This year, Bailey was a skunk and Alayna was a cat. KR and I pulled out some last minute costumes and went as a police officer and a convict. As you can tell from the pictures, Bailey was a little nervous at first about seeing so many people in costume. The evening was lots of fun, and by the time Bailey started collecting candy, she was thrilled!

The next afternoon, we had a Halloween party at Papa & Grandma Kirkendall's house with all the fam. They went to a lot of work to put together a fun time. The kids did some cookie-decorating, bobbed for apples, caught doughnuts on a string, did a cupcake walk and a pinata. And of course we all enjoyed some yummy Halloween-themed food!

The cousins' turn. And yes, KR did get whacked in the stomach with the stick at one point!

Bailey couldn't get the candy in her mouth fast enough. She was ready to eat it with the wrapper on I'm sure.

Bailey loves being with her cousins but chose to play on the slide instead of do the cupcake walk with everyone. Crazy girl. She would swing and slide all day if we'd let her.

Halloween day the girls and I "decorated" pumpkins. Maybe we'll get around to actually carving our big one later.

That night, the girls dressed up in their costumes again and we met up with some of their cousins for the main event...Trick or Treating!

Bailey tried to walk inside the first few houses after they gave her candy. It was pretty funny.

Bailey rode in style from house to house. Towards the end of the night she got pretty hyper and was running down the sidewalk.

The Loot. More than half of which has already been eaten by mom and dad. Not sure how many years we can get away with that.

The "Great Value" Effect

I've been noticing how white-washed my pantry looks lately.
I think it's called Walmartitis.

Birthdays & Blessings

Look who's been 2 for a while!
We celebrated Bailey's 2nd birthday back in April. Grandpa and Great-Grandma Wardle came up for the occasion. We had family and friends over for a little playing, pizza, cake, and ice cream. Bailey was on cloud nine and actually ran out of her own energy by the end of the day and was running on pure sugar fumes.

Alayna got a lot of good cuddle time. I can't believe how small she was then.

Bailey was spoiled and enjoyed every minute. Thank you everyone!
Bailey and her new "Bike-a-sickle" as she calls it.

KR gave Alayna a beautiful blessing.
This is as close to a nice family picture as we could get!
